Caravel, a conversational intelligence platform, has been acquired by Commsor, a New York-based company founded in 2019 that helps companies manage their online communities.

Portland, Ore.-based Caravel launched in 2018 to surface real-time insights from customer communication using AI. It was one of ten startups in the 2020 Techstars Seattle accelerator cohort.

The deal will help Commsor produce instant reports on community discussion topics, insights into predicted member activity, and personalized engagement for members.

Caravel users can continue to use Caravel as an independent service.

“The Commsor acquisition presents an opportunity to make a significant impact on the future of community by bringing our suite of state-of-the-art NLP solutions to a company that is leading the way for community-led growth,” Maxwell Folley, CEO and founder of Caravel, said in a statement to GeekWire. Financial terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.

Commsor previously acquired Meetsy in June 2021 and Port in September. It raised $50 million in a Series B round led by Atomico earlier this year. The company employs six people and they will be joining Commsor.

Commsor is similar to Seattle startup Common Room, which won Startup of the Year honors at the GeekWire Awards and raised $52 million in March.
