r/netflix – Behind Netflix’s Leaner Movie Mandate: Bigger, Fewer and Better

Meanwhile, Knives Out 2 — the next chapter of the whodunit franchise from director Rian Johnson and star Daniel Craig, for which Netflix hammered out a $469 million deal in March 2021 — is set to bow in the fourth quarter of this year.
This is an illustration of the fundamental misunderstanding Netflix has. Throwing more money at a production is not a guarantee of quality. Just some food for thought:-
Knives Out received critical acclaim, particularly for its screenplay, direction, and acting, and it grossed $311.4 million worldwide against a $40 million budget.

Netflix should be adding low budget but quality movies like Knives Out I into its catalog, instead of funding expensive sequels like Knives Out II.
